Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cover your surface with parchment paper to catch any spills.
  • Lightly grease your molds or cookie cutters with cooking oil to prevent sticking.

Making the Mixture

  • In a pot, mix the cornstarch, water, and corn syrup over medium heat.
  • Stir constantly until the mixture thickens and becomes translucent, achieving a gooey consistency.

Adding Color

  • Once thickened, remove from heat and divide the mixture into separate containers.
  • Add food coloring to each container, mixing until you achieve your desired shades.

Pouring into Molds

  • Carefully pour the colorful bioplastic mixture into your greased molds or cookie cutters.
  • Use a paintbrush to create patterns or designs if desired.

Setting

  • Allow the suncatchers to cool and solidify at room temperature for several hours or overnight.
  • Once firm, gently remove them from the molds.

Display

  • Use suction cups or string to hang your suncatchers in windows where they can catch the sunlight.

Notes

For tips and variations, consider adding biodegradable glitter for sparkle, experimenting with different shapes using various molds, trying natural dyes like beet juice or turmeric, and layering colors for unique effects.
