Ingredients
  

Materials Needed

  • 1 container Clear glass or plastic container (such as a jar or bowl) To showcase the colors
  • 1/4 container Water Fill the container about a quarter full
  • 1/2 container Vegetable oil or any other type of oil Gently pour until half full
  • a few drops Food coloring (various colors) To create vibrant colors
  • 1 spoon A spoon or stirrer For mixing
  • optional Glitter or small objects For added fun

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Select a clear container like a glass jar or bowl.
  • Pour water into the container, filling it about a quarter full.
  • Gently pour vegetable oil into the container until it's about half full and observe how the oil floats on top of the water!
  • Using a dropper or spoon, add a few drops of food coloring on top of the oil.
  • Observe how the colors interact with the oil, creating beautiful patterns.
  • Take note of the drops of food coloring slowly moving through the oil to reach the water layer.
  • Observe how the drops burst and spread colorful trails as they mix with the water!
  • For extra sparkle, add glitter or small objects, and mix gently with a spoon to watch the new creations!

Notes

Experiment with different types of oils, color combinations, water temperatures, and container shapes for varied effects. Always supervise children during the experiment.
