Instructions

Preparation

  • Find a clean, flat surface and gather all your materials for easy access.

Combine Ingredients

  • In a saucepan, mix 1 cup of cornstarch, 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of glycerin (if using). Stir the mixture with a spoon until it’s well combined.

Heat the Mixture

  • Place the saucepan on the stove over medium heat and continuously stir the mixture as it heats up.
  • Watch for it to start thickening; this will take about 3-5 minutes.
  • Once it forms a gel-like consistency, remove it from the heat.

Add Color

  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to your mixture and stir until the color is evenly distributed.

Shape Your Bioplastic

  • Quickly pour the hot mixture onto wax paper or a silicone mat, using your hands or tools to shape it as desired while it’s warm.

Let It Cure

  • Allow the bioplastic to cool and harden for 24-48 hours. Once firm, it can be cut or molded into any desired shapes.

Notes

Customize the bioplastic by experimenting with different food dyes and scents. Adjust the amount of cornstarch for thickness. Use cookie cutters or molds for unique shapes.
