Ingredients

Materials

  • 1 cup white school glue
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Food coloring (pink, blue, or your favorite cotton candy colors)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • Plastic mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Balloon pump (optional)
  • Rubber gloves (for easy handling)
  • Baking sheet for drying

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a plastic mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of white school glue and 1/2 cup of water. Stir until fully mixed and smooth.
  • Add food coloring to the mixture. For a cotton candy effect, mix pink and blue colors together! Stir until you achieve your desired shade.
  • Sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and mix thoroughly to activate the glue.
  • Gradually add in 1/2 cup of cornstarch. Use your hands (with gloves on) to knead the mixture until it becomes less sticky and forms a ball.
  • Roll portions of the mixture into small balls with your hands, aiming for a size similar to a golf ball. Ensure they are compact and smooth.
  • Place the bouncy balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and allow them to dry for 24 hours before playing with them.

Notes

Experiment with scents by adding cotton candy-flavored extract. Create multi-colored bouncy balls by layering colors during shaping. Adjust consistency by adding cornstarch if too sticky, or a bit of water if too dry. Use silicone molds for fun shapes instead of traditional balls.
