Crayon Star Sun Catchers

Create beautiful and colorful sun catchers using melted crayons and silicone molds for a fun family craft project.

Ingredients
  

Materials

  • Crayons (broken or unused) Any wax-based crayons can be used.
  • Silicone molds (star-shaped or any other preferred shape)
  • Oven or toaster oven Used for melting the crayons.
  • Parchment paper
  • Cooling rack For cooling the melted crayons.
  • Optional: Clear adhesive window film For enhancing the finished sun catchers.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) and allow it to preheat.
  • Remove the wrappers from the crayons and break them into small pieces (about 1-inch) to facilitate melting.
  • Arrange the crayon pieces in your silicone molds, mixing and matching colors for unique patterns.

Melting and Cooling

  • Place the filled molds in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes until crayons are completely melted. Keep an eye on them to prevent overheating.
  • Once melted, remove from the oven and place them on a cooling rack. Allow the molds to cool for about 30 minutes to an hour until the sun catchers are solid.
  • Gently flex the silicone molds to pop out the finished sun catchers.

Notes

Customize colors and shapes with different molds for variety. Use string or ribbon to hang sun catchers in windows.
