Materials

  • 1 box Crayons (broken pieces work well) Any type of crayons can be used.
  • 1 dish Oven-safe baking dish or silicone mold This will hold the melted crayons.
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper To line the dish for easy removal.
  • 1 pair Heatproof oven mitts Essential for safely handling the hot dish.
  • optional Glitter or small beads For added sparkle in the suncatchers.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
  • Peel and break crayons into small pieces (about 1-inch chunks). Sort by color for design variety or mix them for a rainbow effect.
  • Place the crayon pieces in your baking dish or silicone mold, filling it evenly.

Baking

  • Carefully place the dish in the oven and melt the crayons, watching them closely for 10-15 minutes.

Cooling and Displaying

  • Once melted, remove the dish using heatproof mitts and allow to cool for about 30 minutes until they harden.
  • Pop out the suncatchers from the mold and hang them using string or suction cups in a sunny window.

Notes

Experiment with different colors and shapes using cookie cutters or stencils. Add glitter or beads for texture. This craft is great for parties or as gifts.
