  • 1 clear glass jar Clear glass jar with lid Choose a size that fits your decorative items.
  • 1 cup Epsom salt or sugar Epsom salt tends to create sturdier crystals.
  • 1 cup hot water Water should be boiling.
  • a few drops green food coloring Add more for a deeper color.
  • small decorative items Use mini ornaments, figurines, etc.

Tools

  • 1 spoon For stirring the mixture.
  • 1 container heat-resistant container For mixing the hot water and Epsom salt/sugar.
  • 1 strainer fine mesh strainer Use if needed when pouring.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Boil water in a kettle until it reaches boiling point.
  • In a heat-resistant container, combine 1 cup of boiling water with 1 cup of Epsom salt or sugar. Stir until fully dissolved.
  • Add a few drops of green food coloring to the mixture and stir until evenly blended.

Assembly

  • If using, place your small decorative items at the bottom of the jar.
  • Carefully pour the crystal solution into the jar, ensuring decorations remain in place.

Crystal Formation

  • Tightly close the jar with its lid to prevent evaporation.
  • Place the jar in a cool, undisturbed area for 24-48 hours. Watch as crystals begin to form!

Display

  • After 24 hours, open the jar to see the stunning crystals. If you want more growth, seal it again and check periodically.
  • Display your Crystal Christmas Tree on a shelf or as a festive table centerpiece.

Notes

Consider using different food coloring for a multi-colored tree. You can also add biodegradable glitter for extra sparkle. Experiment with materials like borax or alum for varied textures.
