Ingredients
  

For the crystal growth

  • 1/2 cup Baking soda
  • 1 cup Vinegar Any type of vinegar can be used, white vinegar provides clearer results.
  • Food coloring (optional) To create colorful crystals.

For the setup

  • 1 Shallow dish or tray To hold the baking soda and vinegar mixture.
  • 1 Spoon for mixing
  • 1 Small bowl or container For additional crystal growth.

Preparation

  • Choose a clean, flat surface to work on and lay down newspapers or plastic to catch any spills.
  • In the shallow dish, combine the baking soda with a few drops of food coloring, if desired, and mix thoroughly.

Creating the mixture

  • Slowly pour the vinegar over the baking soda mixture and observe the fizzing reaction.
  • Leave the mixture to settle for about 30 minutes to allow crystals to form.

Collecting Crystals

  • After some time, small crystals will start forming in the dish. For further growth, transfer some mixture into a smaller bowl and let it sit for several hours or overnight.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring for rainbow crystals or use various containers for unique shapes. Keep the area warm to encourage evaporation for better results.
