Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Clean eggshells (halved) Ensure they are thoroughly cleaned.
  • 0.25 cups Epsom salt or sugar Epsom salt is preferred for better crystal formation.
  • 1 cups Hot water Boil water before use.
  • a few drops drops Food coloring (optional) Choose any color for vibrant crystals.

Tools & Materials

  • 1 small Mixing bowl
  • 1 spoon Spoon For stirring the solution.
  • 1 sheet Baking sheet To hold the eggshells.
  • 1 sheet Wax paper or aluminum foil To catch drips from the crystal solution.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse the eggshells thoroughly and let them dry completely to prevent contamination.

Make the Crystal Solution

  • Boil approximately 1 cup of water.
  • In a small mixing bowl, add ¼ cup of Epsom salt (or sugar) to the hot water.
  • Mix vigorously until the solute is fully dissolved.
  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and stir gently to avoid bubbles.

Fill the Eggshells

  • Place a sheet of wax paper or aluminum foil on your baking sheet.
  • Carefully pour your crystal solution into each eggshell, filling it about three-quarters full.
  • Set aside for several hours or overnight until the crystals form.

Reveal Your Geodes

  • After the wait, gently remove the eggshells from the baking sheet.
  • Carefully peel the eggshells away from the crystal formations—be gentle to avoid breaking.

Notes

Experiment with different food colorings for unique crystal hues. You can also try using different types of salt to see variations in crystal growth and add glitter for a sparkly effect.
