Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Borax Per jar
  • 2 cups Boiling water Per jar

For the Tree

  • 1 piece Clean glass jar Various sizes
  • 1 piece Pipe cleaner Green for trees; optional colors for decorations
  • 1 drop Food coloring Optional for tinting the solution

Optional Decorations

  • 1 piece String or ribbon For hanging if desired
  • 1 bottle Small decorations Like beads or glitter
  • 1 piece Wooden stick or pencil To attach the string

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Twist green pipe cleaners into the shape of a tree, adding smaller branches for a fuller look.
  • In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup of Borax with 2 cups of boiling water and stir until the Borax fully dissolves.
  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the solution.

Assembly

  • Attach a piece of string to the top of your tree-shaped pipe cleaner and suspend it in the jar, ensuring it doesn't touch the sides or bottom.
  • Pour the Borax solution carefully into the jar, covering the tree completely.

Waiting

  • Place the jar in a quiet, undisturbed area and allow it to sit for 24 hours for crystals to form.

Reveal Your Creation

  • After 24 hours, gently remove the tree from the jar and let it dry. Admire your sparkling crystal-infused Christmas tree!
