Ingredients

Growing Solution

  • 1 cup Water Boiled
  • 1 tablespoon Table salt or sugar Add gradually until dissolved
  • 5 drops Food coloring (optional) For vibrant crystals

Equipment

  • 1 A heat source Stove or microwave
  • 1 A clear glass or jar For holding the growing solution
  • 1 spoon Spoon For stirring
  • 1 String or plain stick For suspending crystals
  • 1 Small container For growing crystals, like a shallow dish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat about one cup of water in a pot or microwave until it reaches a rolling boil.
  • Slowly add salt (or sugar) into the boiling water, one tablespoon at a time, stirring continuously until fully dissolved.

Adding Color (Optional)

  • If you want vibrant crystals, add a few drops of food coloring to the solution and stir.

Setting Up the Growing Environment

  • Carefully pour the hot solution into a clean glass or jar, ensuring not to spill.
  • Tie a string or stick across the top of the jar such that it hangs down into the solution.

Let Them Grow

  • Set your jar in a warm location away from direct sunlight.
  • Over the next few days, check on the crystals. You should start to see them form within a few hours and grow over a few days.

Notes

For larger crystals, use more salt/sugar and increase growth time. Experiment with different materials for varied results. Document the growth process for educational purposes.
