  • 1 piece heat-resistant container A glass jar or similar will work.
  • 1 piece string or pipe cleaner For forming the heart shape.
  • 1 piece pencil or stick To suspend the heart.
  • a few drops food coloring (optional) For added color to the crystals.
  • 1 heat source Stove or microwave for boiling water.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Use a pipe cleaner to create a heart shape, or twist two pieces of string together into a heart form.
  • Ensure the heart isn’t too large; it should fit comfortably within your heat-resistant container.

Creating the Solution

  • In a pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
  • Once the water is boiling, carefully stir in 3 tablespoons of borax.
  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to your solution.

Forming the Heart

  • Using the pencil or stick, suspend the heart shape in the center of the container so that it does not touch the sides or bottom.

Crystal Formation

  • Set the container aside in a place where it won’t be disturbed.
  • Leave it undisturbed for 24-48 hours for crystal formation.

Final Touch

  • Once the crystals have formed, gently remove the heart from the solution.
  • Rinse it briefly under cool water to remove any excess borax and place it on a paper towel to dry.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring or glitter for a magical effect. Try different shapes or add decorations once dry.
