Ingredients
  

For the Sugar Solution

  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cups sugar For best results, do not reduce sugar.
  • 1 tablespoon corn syrup
  • food coloring (optional) For vibrant looks.

  • heart-shaped cookie cutters or molds
  • string or fishing line For hanging.
  • saucepan
  • stirring spoon
  • wax paper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 3 cups of sugar.
  • Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of corn syrup and stir well. Optionally, add food coloring for a vibrant look.

Cooling

  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the solution cool slightly for about 5-10 minutes.

Molding

  • Prepare your heart-shaped cookie cutters or molds by placing them on a sheet of wax paper.
  • Carefully fill each mold with the sugar solution, ensuring it's packed well.

Setting

  • Place a piece of string or fishing line in each mold, allowing it to dangle in the solution.
  • Let the molds sit at room temperature for 24-48 hours until the crystals form and set completely.

Drying

  • Once the ornaments have hardened, carefully pop them out of the molds.
  • Allow them to dry on clean wax paper for an additional few hours before displaying or gifting.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring combinations for unique looks. Try using different shapes of cookie cutters to create various designs. Adding edible glitter can provide extra sparkle. A few drops of essential oils can add a pleasant scent.
