Instructions

Preparation

  • Prepare your workspace by clearing a flat surface and laying down parchment or wax paper.
  • In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar with just enough water to make it damp but not soggy.
  • If you wish to color your flowers, add a few drops of food coloring to the damp sugar and mix gently.

Shaping

  • Using an old paintbrush or small spoon, start shaping the sugar mixture into flower petals.
  • Place each petal onto the parchment paper and allow them to dry fully.

Finishing

  • Check on your flowers after a few hours or overnight. They are ready when they feel dry and firm.
  • Enjoy your finished pieces, and consider how they can be displayed or gifted.

Notes

Store the sugar flowers in a cool, dry place, in an airtight container or wrapped in tissue paper to protect them from humidity. They can be remade if needed.
