Ingredients
  

Main Materials

  • 1/2 cup Borax For crystal growth.
  • 2 cups Water Boil for the solution.
  • several pieces Pipe cleaners Use various colors for personalization.
  • 1 container Small container (like a jar or a cup) To hold the borax solution.
  • optional String For hanging the tree.
  • 1 Pencil or stick To suspend the tree.
  • 1 pair Scissors To cut pipe cleaners as needed.
  • optional Food coloring For adding color to the crystals.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Shape your tree by twisting several pipe cleaners together to form a tree structure and create branches.
  • Fluff the branches for a fuller look.

Making the Borax Solution

  • In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  • Once boiling, add in 1/2 cup of borax, stirring until fully dissolved.

Coloring the Solution (Optional)

  • Mix in a few drops of food coloring into the borax solution, stirring until the color is evenly distributed.

Suspending the Tree

  • Pour the borax solution into your small container.
  • Attach the tree using a string or suspend it with a pencil across the top of the container, ensuring it's submerged but not touching the bottom.

Letting It Sit

  • Place the jar in a location where it won’t be disturbed.
  • Wait several hours to overnight and observe the crystal formation.

Final Touches

  • Once satisfied with the crystal formation, carefully remove the tree and rinse it under cool water.
  • Allow it to dry completely before displaying.

Notes

Experiment with food coloring for unique effects. You can also use different bases for your trees. Add small decorations for enhanced visual appeal.
