Instructions

Preparation

  • Boil about 1 cup of water in a pot.
  • Gradually add 1 to 2 cups of sugar or salt, stirring constantly until fully dissolved to create a saturated solution.

Adding Color

  • If you want colored crystals, add a few drops of food coloring to the solution and stir well.

Preparing the Base

  • Take a small container and either tie a string or use thin wire to create a base that can hold your tree shape.
  • Dip the string or wire into the solution and then lay it on a plate to let it cool slightly.

Forming the Tree

  • For branches, use skewers or sticks and dip them into the sugar solution.
  • Carefully place them in a way that resembles branches emerging from the base.

Crystal Growth

  • Pour the remaining saturated solution into the container and place it in a cool, undisturbed area.
  • Crystals will begin to form over the next few days. Check daily for progression!

Final Touches

  • Once you've achieved the desired crystal growth, remove the tree from the solution.
  • Allow it to dry completely before displaying it.

Notes

Use a tray under your container to capture any spills. Experiment with Epsom salts or borax for different types of crystals. Consider adding glitter or decorations for a whimsical touch.
