  • Muffin tin or silicone molds For forming the egg shapes
  • Baking sheet For drying the eggs
  • Plastic wrap

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by lightly greasing the muffin tin or silicone molds with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.

Mixing Ingredients

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of cornstarch. Stir until well blended.
  • In a separate container, mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar with food coloring.
  • Slowly pour this mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring continuously to avoid fizzing.
  • If the mixture is too dry, gradually add 1-2 tablespoons of water until it reaches a moldable consistency.

Forming the Dino Eggs

  • Place a small toy dinosaur or other surprise in the center of each mold.
  • Pack the mixture tightly around the toy, ensuring it's well-covered. Press down firmly.

Drying Process

  • Let the eggs sit in the molds for about 24 hours or until completely dry.
  • Once dry, gently pop them out from the molds and lay them on a baking sheet.

Notes

Experiment with different food colorings, use various molds for unique shapes, and consider adding glitter or small beads for extra texture. This craft is a great way to create a mini paleontology lesson or package as a gift.
