Preparation

  • Gather all the materials and lay them on a clean, flat surface.
  • Make sure that the area is protected with newspaper or plastic to avoid mess.

Execution

  • Pour the cup of milk into the shallow dish, ensuring it covers the bottom evenly.
  • Carefully add drops of food coloring in different spots across the milk surface.
  • Dip a cotton swab into the dish soap, ensuring you have a good amount on the tip.
  • Gently touch the swab to the milk’s surface after adding food coloring.
  • Observe as the colors swirl and disperse dramatically!
  • Dispose of the milk mixture properly and wash all materials used.
  • Encourage kids to reflect on what they’ve learned.
