Ingredients

Materials

  • 1 jar Clear glass or plastic jar with lid An empty mason jar or any clear container works perfectly.
  • 1 tbsp Dish soap Preferably clear or light-colored.
  • 1 unit Highlighter Water-based.
  • ½ cup Water To soak the highlighter ink.
  • 1 unit Glow sticks (optional) For added glow effect.
  • 1 unit Funnel For easy pouring.
  • 1 unit Stirring stick or spoon

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start with a clean and dry jar.
  • Carefully take apart a water-based highlighter. Remove the felt tip and soak it in about ½ cup of water for a few minutes.
  • Stir the water to mix the ink properly, creating a vibrant solution.

Mixing Ingredients

  • Using a funnel, pour the highlighter solution into the jar.
  • Add 1-2 tablespoons of dish soap.
  • Fill the jar with water, leaving a little space at the top. Stir gently to mix everything without making too many bubbles.

Optional Enhancement

  • Break a glow stick and pour the contents into the jar for an added glow effect.

Final Touch

  • Seal the jar tightly with the lid.
  • Give it a gentle shake to combine all ingredients.

Enjoy!

  • Place your glowing jar in a dark area to see the magic unfold.

Notes

Experiment with different highlighter colors to create unique shades. For a sparkly effect, mix in some biodegradable glitter. If you don’t have glow sticks, use tonic water (which contains quinine) for a natural glow under UV light. Substitute plastic jars with recycled glass containers for an eco-friendly option.
