Ingredients

Materials

  • 1 cup Crystallization solution (borax, sugar, or Epsom salt)
  • 2 cups Water (hot, as per recipe) Near boiling
  • 1 each Container (glass jars or cups)
  • 1 each Craft sticks or strings (for hanging crystals)
  • a few drops Food coloring (optional, for colored crystals)
  • 1 each Measuring cup
  • 1 each Spoon (for stirring)
  • 1 each Heat-resistant surface (for secure workspace)
  • 1 each Safety goggles (recommended for safety)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat 2 cups of water until near boiling.
  • Gradually add 1 cup of your chosen crystallization ingredient (e.g., borax), stirring continuously until fully dissolved.
  • Keep stirring until the solution is clear and no solid remains.

Coloring

  • If you'd like colored crystals, add a few drops of food coloring to the solution and mix thoroughly.

Setup

  • Dip a craft stick or string into the solution, then remove it and let it cool slightly.
  • Fix it to the bottom of your jar, ensuring it doesn’t touch the sides or bottom.

Pouring

  • Pour the hot solution carefully into the prepared jar, ensuring the stick or string is submerged.

Waiting

  • Cover the jar loosely with a paper towel or cloth to allow air circulation.
  • Place the jar in a cool, undisturbed area for 24-72 hours.
  • Observe the magic each day as crystals start to grow!

Final Touches

  • After the growth period, carefully remove the stick or string.
  • Rinse crystals gently with water and let them dry before displaying.

Notes

Try different substances for unique crystal results, experiment with colors, and use various amounts of crystallization ingredients for size variation.
