DIY Crystal Hearts
Craft beautiful and customizable crystal hearts using simple materials for decor or thoughtful gifts.
Ingredients
Main ingredients
- 1 cup Borax powder For creating the crystal structure.
- 2 cups Water Hot water is recommended for dissolving Borax.
- Any amount Pipe cleaners Can be shaped into hearts or any design.
- 1 piece Glass jar To hold the solution and pipe cleaner design.
- String or thin wire String or thin wire Used to suspend the pipe cleaner.
- 1 Pencil or chopstick To support the pipe cleaner in the jar.
- Optional Food coloring or glitter For customizing the color of your crystals.
Instructions
Preparation
- Shape the pipe cleaners into a heart form or any design of your choice, layering them for thickness.
- In a separate container, heat water until near boiling and gradually add Borax powder, stirring continuously until fully dissolved.
- For colored crystals, add food coloring or glitter to the solution and stir.
Assembly
- Attach the shaped pipe cleaner to a pencil or chopstick using string, ensuring it hangs in the center of the jar without touching sides or bottom.
- Carefully pour the Borax solution into the jar until the pipe cleaner design is submerged.
Crystal Formation
- Leave the jar undisturbed for 6-12 hours for the crystals to form around the pipe cleaner.
- Once crystals have formed, gently remove the heart from the jar and allow it to dry on a paper towel.
Notes
Customize your hearts with different colors and decorations. Experiment with materials like sugar or Epsom salts for different textures. Keep them away from direct sunlight to maintain appearance.
