Ingredients

Materials

  • 3-5 pieces Clear balloons (large size)
  • 1 cup Glitter (blue and green for ocean effect)
  • 3-5 pieces Small plastic sea creatures or shells
  • 1 cup Water beads or gel (optional) For added squishiness
  • 1 cup Food coloring (optional) For added color
  • 1 pieces Funnel or a small cup For filling
  • 1 cup Measuring cup (for water)
  • 1 pieces Scissors To cut balloon tips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your materials and set up your workspace. Ensure it’s clean and spacious for the sensory activity.
  • Blow up the balloons slightly to stretch them. Let them deflate, which will make them easier to fill later.

Filling the Balloons

  • Using a funnel, carefully pour in a small amount of glitter into the balloon.
  • Add a few water beads or gel (if using).
  • Drop in a small plastic sea creature or shell for added fun.
  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to mimic ocean hues.

Finalizing the Balls

  • Using the measuring cup, pour water into the balloon until nearly full, leaving some room at the top.
  • Carefully remove the funnel, then tie the balloon securely.
  • Trim any excess balloon length if needed.

Enjoyment

  • Squeeze, toss, or play with your DIY Glitter Ocean Sensory Balls!
  • Encourage kids to describe the sensations they feel when playing.

Notes

Consider making themed sensory balls, such as 'Deep Sea' with different ocean creatures. Keep them in a cool, dry place and avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading.
