Ingredients
  

Base Mixture

  • 1 cup water Ensure it's at room temperature for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Can be substituted with flour or baking soda.

Coloring and Molding Materials

  • ice cube trays or silicone molds Use different shapes for fun designs.

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Stir well until the cornstarch is completely dissolved.
  • Divide the mixture into small cups or bowls, depending on how many colors you want to make. Add food coloring to each cup and mix until you achieve your desired color intensity.

Molding and Freezing

  • Carefully pour the colored mixtures into the ice cube trays or silicone molds, filling each compartment about ¾ full to allow space for expansion as they freeze.
  • Place the filled trays in the freezer for approximately 4-6 hours, or until completely frozen.

Usage

  • Remove the frozen chalk from the molds; you might need to gently twist the molds to release them.
  • Head outside and enjoy drawing on the sidewalk. Watch the colors blend and melt away in the sun!

Notes

You can add drops of vanilla or fruit extracts for added sensory fun. Experiment with different molds like hearts or stars for creative shapes!
