Ingredients
  

For the Lava Lamp Sun Catcher

  • 1 clear glass jar Clear glass jar or bottle (recycled jars work beautifully) Make sure it's clean and dry.
  • 1 cup Water Fill jar a third of the way.
  • 2/3 cup Vegetable oil Light oil, not too fragrant.
  • a few drops Food coloring Any colors that speak to you.
  • optional Glitter or small embellishments Delightful additions for sparkle.
  • 1 Small funnel or dropper Useful for pouring.
  • optional Decorative materials Ribbons, paints, or stickers for jar decoration.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse out your glass jar, ensuring it’s clean and ready.
  • Fill your jar a third of the way with water.
  • Add a few drops of food coloring to the water.
  • Measure about two-thirds cup of vegetable oil in a separate container.
  • Slowly add the oil to the colored water in your jar.
  • If desired, add glitter or small embellishments to the mix.
  • Close the jar tightly to seal your beautiful contents inside.
  • Place your sun catcher in a bright windowsill or sunny spot.

Notes

Gently wipe the outside with a soft cloth if dust accumulates. The jar can be reused for another project.
