DIY Moon Sand

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup baby oil (or vegetable oil) You can use either baby oil or vegetable oil.
  • Food coloring (optional) Add for vibrant colors.

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 spoon or spatula
  • 1 airtight container For storage.

Mix the Dry Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the 8 cups of flour.
  • Stir with a spoon or spatula to break up any clumps for a fine consistency.

Add the Oil

  • Slowly pour in the 1 cup of baby oil or vegetable oil.
  • Mix thoroughly until the flour takes on a crumbly texture. The mixture should feel soft and slightly oily.

Customize Color (Optional)

  • If you want colored moon sand, add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture.
  • Continue to mix until the color is evenly distributed, making the sand vibrant and fun.

Test and Store

  • Once mixed, check the consistency. It should hold together when squeezed but still crumble when played with.
  • Transfer moon sand into an airtight container to keep it fresh for future play.

Notes

Consider adding essential oils for scent variations or mix in glitter for added sensory interest. Always supervise young children during play.
