Materials for Suncatchers

  • 1 sheet Clear contact paper or acrylic sheets
  • Colored sheets Colored tissue paper or transparent colored film
  • 1 pair Scissors
  • 1 tool Craft knife (for adult supervision if children are involved)
  • 1 piece String or fishing line (for hanging)
  • 1 piece A pencil or marker (for tracing)
  • Optional additional embellishments (glitter, beads, or sequins) For added decoration

Instructions

Preparation

  • Clear a flat surface and lay down some newspaper or an old cloth for easy cleanup.
  • Using scissors, cut the contact paper into your desired shape (circle, heart, or other designs). Create two pieces for each suncatcher.

Design Creation

  • On one piece of contact paper, draw or outline your desired pattern using a pencil.
  • Tear or cut the colored tissue paper into small pieces.

Assembly

  • Peel off the backing of one piece of contact paper and place it sticky side up.
  • Apply your colored tissue pieces onto the contact paper, creating your design. Experiment with overlapping colors for a beautiful effect.

Sealing

  • Once your design is complete, carefully peel the backing off the second piece of contact paper and place it on top of your design, sticky side down.
  • Press down gently to smooth out any bubbles.

Finishing Touches

  • Trim any excess contact paper around the edges of your suncatcher.
  • Use a craft knife to make a small hole at the top of your suncatcher. Thread a piece of string or fishing line through the hole and tie a knot.

Notes

Customize colors and experiment with different materials for varied effects. Suncatchers are best suited for indoor use.
