  • 1 bottle Water To dilute the dye.

Instructions

Preparing the Dye

  • Mix food coloring or liquid watercolors with water in small bowls. Start with a few drops of dye and adjust until desired shade is achieved.

Dyeing the Filters

  • Lay out your coffee filters on a baking sheet or plastic wrap.
  • If using gloves, put them on. Dip the filters into the dye, allowing them to soak for a few seconds.
  • Lift the filter and give it a gentle shake to let excess dye drip off.
  • Use a spray bottle or pipette to sprinkle or splatter different colors onto the filters for added effects.

Drying and Finishing

  • Set the dyed filters aside to dry completely. Observe the colors deepen and settle into the fibers.
  • Once dry, admire your handiwork and enjoy the vibrant colors and textures.

Notes

Store dyed filters in a cool, dry place. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading. Rinse filters under cold water to reuse, and explore using natural dyes for softer tones.
