  • 1 Paper towel or old newspaper To catch drips and dry the flowers

Instructions

Preparation

  • Prepare your workstation by laying down the paper towels or newspaper to protect your surface.
  • In small bowls, mix your food coloring with a little water.

Dyeing the Filters

  • Dip the edges of the coffee filters into the dye, allowing the colors to soak in.
  • Lay the dyed filters flat on the paper towels and let them dry completely.

Shaping Flowers

  • Once dry, stack two or three filters together and fold them in half, then in half again, creating a fan shape.
  • Trim the top edge into a rounded or scalloped shape for softer petals.
  • Unfold the filters slightly, then wrap a pipe cleaner around the base of the flowers to secure.
  • Layer more filters on top if desired, holding the bottom in place with the pipe cleaner.

Finishing Touches

  • Once shaped as preferred, take a moment to admire your creations.

Notes

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Reshape petals if they lose form. You can also re-dye the filters for seasonal changes or add glitter for a magical touch.
