Preparation

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it with cooking spray or oil.
  • Ensure your workspace is clean and moisture-free.

Cooking

  • In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, water, and corn syrup. Stir gently until dissolved.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Insert the candy thermometer into the pan and allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (150°C).
  • Once it reaches a clear, golden hue, remove from heat.
  • If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and stir gently to combine, avoiding bubbles.
  • Carefully pour the hot mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and tilt to spread evenly.
  • Allow to cool completely until it hardens, about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Final Touches

  • Once set, break into desired shapes using your hands or a mallet.
  • Enjoy the edible glass as candy or use it decoratively.

Notes

Experiment with flavored extracts for added complexity. Use edible glitter for extra sparkle. Store in an airtight container at room temperature to avoid stickiness.
