For the Rice Krispies

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows Can substitute with regular marshmallows (1 bag, 10 oz.)
  • 3 tablespoons butter Can use dairy-free butter for a dairy-free option.
  • Food coloring (optional) For colored icing or decorations
  • Edible decorations (graham cracker crumbs, candy shells, etc.) Various toppings for customization

For the Sandcastle Molds

  • Sandcastle molds or castle-shaped cookie cutters

Preparation

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.

Combine with Rice Krispies

  • Remove the saucepan from heat.
  • Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture.
  • Stir until all the cereal is evenly coated.

Shape the Castle

  • Lightly grease your sandcastle molds or cookie cutters with butter or non-stick spray.
  • Pack the Rice Krispies mixture tightly into the molds, pressing down firmly for good shape.

Let it Set

  • Allow the shaped castles to cool for about 30 minutes, or until they are firm enough to remove from the molds.

Decorate

  • Carefully remove the castle shapes from the molds.
  • Decorate with edible decorations like graham cracker crumbs for sand, gummy candies for flags, and colored icing.

Notes

Encourage creativity by customizing the sandcastle. Consider pairing with tropical-themed snacks. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
