Eggshell Galaxy Crystals

Ingredients
Craft Materials
- 4–6 halves clean eggshells Ensure they are thoroughly rinsed and dried.
- 1 cup hot water Used to create the crystal solution.
- ½ cup Epsom salt or sugar Used for crystallization.
- various colors food coloring Choose your favorite colors.
- 1 each plastic cups or bowls For mixing solutions.
- 1 each spoon or stick For stirring the mixture.
- 1 each baking sheet or parchment paper For drying the colored eggshells.
Instructions
Preparation
- Rinse the eggshells thoroughly to remove any residue.
- Allow them to dry completely, and then crush them gently into small pieces.
Create the Crystal Solution
- In a plastic cup or bowl, mix 1 cup of hot water with ½ cup of Epsom salt or sugar.
- Stir the solution until the salt or sugar completely dissolves.
Add Color
- Divide the crystal solution into smaller bowls.
- Add food coloring to each bowl to create various colors, stirring until you achieve your desired hues.
Combine Eggshells and Solution
- Carefully place the crushed eggshells into the colored solution.
- Make sure the eggshells are well soaked in the mixture.
Set to Dry
- Using a spoon, transfer the colored eggshell mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread the shells out evenly to allow for airflow.
Allow Crystals to Form
- Let the eggshells sit undisturbed for 24-48 hours.
- Observe the crystals forming as the solution dries.
Display Your Creations
- Once dry, arrange your shimmering eggshell crystals in a decorative bowl or use them to embellish art projects.
Notes
Customize colors for unique galaxy effects or try metallic food coloring. Use rock salt instead of Epsom salt for a different texture. Adding glitter before drying enhances sparkle. Increasing the salt-to-water ratio produces larger crystals.
