Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 16 oz 16 oz (2 cups) of hydrogen peroxide (6% concentration works best) Higher concentrations yield better eruptions.
  • 1 packet 1 packet of dry yeast Acts as a catalyst.
  • 3 tbsp 3 tbsp warm water To activate the yeast.
  • 2-3 tbsp Dish soap Creates the foam.
  • as needed drops Food coloring (optional) For colorful foam.

Additional Materials

  • 1 count A clean plastic bottle or container For containing the reaction.
  • 1 count Tray or large pan To catch overflow.
  • 1 count Safety goggles For eye protection.
  • 1 count Spoon or stir stick For mixing.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a clean container, add 16 oz of hydrogen peroxide. This will be the base of your reaction.
  • Squeeze in 2-3 tablespoons of dish soap and mix gently. This will create the foam.
  • If you want, add a few drops of food coloring to make colorful foam. Swirl it gently to mix.
  • In a small bowl, combine 1 packet of dry yeast with 3 tablespoons of warm water. Stir for about 30 seconds to activate the yeast.
  • Pour the activated yeast mixture into the container with hydrogen peroxide.
  • Step back and watch the astonishing reaction unfold as foam erupts out of the container!

Notes

Temperature matters: Using warm hydrogen peroxide can speed up the reaction. Experiment with colors and scents to enhance the experience. Always conduct the experiment with supervision, especially with children.
