  • few drops food coloring or acrylic paint Use different shades for variety
  • as needed clear glass or plastic beads Plastic, acrylic, or glass can be used
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda For a frosted effect
  • as needed white vinegar For shine and residue removal
  • as needed Optional: gloves and a mask for safety Recommended for safety

Instructions

Preparation

  • Find a clean, flat surface to work on and lay down newspapers or a protective sheet to catch any spills.

Mix Your Solution

  • In a bowl, combine 1 cup of water with a few drops of food coloring or a small amount of acrylic paint. Stir well until the color is evenly mixed.

Add the Beads

  • Place your clear glass or plastic beads into the colored mixture and let them soak for about 10-15 minutes, ensuring they absorb the color.

Create the 'Sea Glass' Texture

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the beads from the mixture and gently rinse them to remove excess color. On a baking tray, spread the beads out evenly.

Bake the Beads

  • Sprinkle a layer of baking soda over the beads for a frosted effect. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes until they are completely dry.

Cool and Finish

  • Once baked, let the beads cool completely before handling. Optionally, use white vinegar to add a slight shine and remove any remaining residue.

Notes

Experiment with different colors, add small rocks or sand for texture, and store in a cool, dry place to prevent scratching.
