  • 1-2 tablespoons Baking soda For creating the reaction
  • 1/4 cup Vinegar Fill the canister about 1/4 full
  • 1 piece Tissue or paper towel Used to create the baking soda packet
  • 1 pair Safety goggles For eye protection
  • Optional Paint or markers For decorating the canister

Instructions

Preparation

  • Ensure your film canister is clean and dry.
  • Decorate the canister with paint or markers if desired.

Create the Baking Soda Packet

  • Take a small piece of tissue or paper towel.
  • Place 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda in the center of the tissue.
  • Fold the tissue tightly around the baking soda to form a small packet.

Add Vinegar

  • Pour about 1/4 of the film canister filled with vinegar.
  • Ensure to use a surface that can get messy, as the reaction can spill.

Assemble and Launch

  • Quickly drop the baking soda packet into the vinegar.
  • Secure the lid tightly on the canister.
  • Place the canister on the ground lid side down and step back.

Enjoy the Launch!

  • The reaction will build pressure, causing the canister to pop upwards.
  • Watch your rocket soar into the air!

Notes

Change the ratios of baking soda and vinegar for different launch heights, use different containers, or add food coloring for a colorful explosion. Always supervise kids during the experiment.
