Ingredients
  

Popcorn Base

  • 1 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil for popping

Sweet Coating

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Food coloring (red and blue) for a firecracker effect

Preparation

  • Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
  • Add a few popcorn kernels and cover the pot. Wait until they pop.
  • Once popped, add the rest of the kernels and cover, shaking occasionally until popping slows.

Prepare the Coating

  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Stir in the sugar and salt until dissolved, then remove from heat.
  • Divide this mixture into two bowls; add red food coloring to one bowl and blue to the other.

Coat the Popcorn

  • Pour half of the popcorn into a large bowl.
  • Drizzle on the red coating and toss to combine until evenly coated.
  • Repeat for the blue coating with the remaining popcorn.

Layer into Jars

  • Start layering the popcorn in clear glass jars, alternating colors for a firecracker effect.
  • Push down gently to create compact layers, ensuring the colors are visible.

Finish and Seal

  • Top off your jars with candy sprinkles for an extra festive touch.
  • Close the jars tightly with lids and enjoy!
