  • 1/4 cup Cooking oil (vegetable or canola) This creates the layered effect.
  • 1 piece Spoon or stir stick For mixing the colors.
  • 1 piece Small funnel (optional) Helps in pouring the oil without spilling.

Preparation

  • Start with a clean, clear jar or glass.
  • Fill it about halfway with water, leaving room for the oil.

Add Color

  • Use a dropper or spoon to add 5-10 drops of food coloring to the water.
  • Mix gently with the spoon. Observe how the color disperses through the water.

Prepare Oil

  • In a separate container, measure out 1/4 cup of cooking oil.
  • Watch as the oil sits on top of the water, creating a layered effect.

Combine Layers

  • Slowly pour the oil into the jar with water.
  • Feel the smoothness of the oil as it glides over the water. Notice how it forms bubbles and shapes.

Create Fireworks

  • Use the spoon to stir the mixture gently.
  • Witness bursts of color erupt throughout the liquid. Every swirl is unique—enjoy the visual display!

Notes
