Ingredients
Materials
- 1 set Epoxy resin (clear) Ensure it's suitable for crafting.
- 1 set Hardener for resin Follow the packaging instructions for mixing ratios.
- various colors Color pigments Choose your favorite shades.
- 2 pieces Mixing cups Use one for resin and one for hardener.
- 5 pieces Stirring sticks For mixing the resin.
- 1 mold Silicone mold (firework shape) This will give your suncatcher its shape.
- 1 pair Gloves For protection while working with resin.
- 1 piece Drop cloth Protects your workspace.
- 3 pieces Toothpicks For creating swirl effects.
- to taste Optional: Glitter or dried flowers Add for extra flair.
Instructions
Preparation
- Lay down a drop cloth to protect your workspace from any mess.
- Gather all materials to ensure everything is within reach.
Mix the Resin
- Follow instructions on the resin and hardener packaging for the correct mixing ratio.
- In a mixing cup, pour the resin and hardener, then stir slowly for 3-5 minutes until the mixture is well combined and clear.
Add Color
- If using multiple colors, divide the mixed resin into separate cups.
- Add color pigments to each cup and stir consistently.
Pour Into Mold
- Start pouring the colored resin into the mold in layers, allowing each layer to partially set before adding another color.
- If desired, sprinkle glitter or dried flowers between layers for added effect.
Let It Cure
- Cover the resin to prevent dust from settling and let it cure for at least 24 hours.
Demold and Finish
- Carefully pull the hardened resin out of the mold.
- Trim any rough edges with fine sandpaper for a smooth finish.
