Firework’s Confetti Experiment
Create colorful confetti that mimics fireworks, combining art and science for a fun and educational activity.
Ingredients
Materials
- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup Cornstarch
- various Food coloring (various colors) Use different colors for customization.
- as needed Small containers or cups For mixing colors.
- 1 Baking sheet For placing confetti mixtures.
- 1 Parchment paper To avoid sticking.
- optional Plastic squeeze bottles For more controlled pouring.
- as needed Scissors For cutting confetti shapes.
Instructions
Preparation
- In each small container, mix water and cornstarch until the texture resembles thick paint.
- Divide the mixture into separate containers based on the number of colors you’d like to use.
Adding Color
- Add a few drops of food coloring to each container and stir well until the color is evenly distributed.
- Experiment with mixing colors to create new shades!
Creating Confetti Shapes
- Use scissors to cut shapes from the parchment paper, or simply pour your mixtures onto the baking sheet.
- If using squeeze bottles, fill with your colored mixture for more control.
Drying
- Place the baking sheet filled with your mixtures in a cool, dry area for 24 hours.
- Ensure that the mixture hardens completely into confetti shapes.
Celebration
- Once dry, gently peel the confetti shapes from the sheet and toss them in the air for your own fireworks display!

Customize Colors: Feel free to experiment with metallic food colors for more sparkle. Shape Variations: Use cookie cutters or stencils to create unique designs.
