Preparation

  • Clear a flat surface and gather all materials.
  • Consider covering your workspace with newspaper or plastic for easy cleanup.

Filling the Cups

  • Pour about ½ cup of water into each clear cup or jar.
  • Leave some space at the top to prevent spills.

Adding the Oil

  • Carefully pour a few tablespoons of oil into each cup with water.
  • Watch as the oil floats on top of the water, creating a clear separation.

Coloring the Fireworks

  • Using a dropper, add drops of food coloring to the oil layer.
  • Experiment with different colors and watch how they sit on the oil.

Creating the Fireworks Effect

  • Use a spoon to gently stir the food coloring, allowing it to break apart and swirl into the water beneath.
  • Optional: Sprinkle glitter on top for extra sparkle!
