  • 0.5 cup Water Tap water works well
  • a few drops Food coloring Various colors for vibrancy
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda Optional for added fizz
  • 2 tablespoons Vinegar To create a fizzy effect
  • 1 spoon Spoon For mixing

Creating the Cup

  • Fill your clear cup about halfway with water. Notice its smooth surface resting in the light.
  • Gently pour vegetable oil on top of the water. Watch it float and create gentle waves.
  • Add a pinch of baking soda to the oil layer and listen for the fizzing sounds.
  • In a separate bowl, mix two tablespoons of vinegar with a few drops of food coloring.
  • Slowly pour the colored vinegar over the oil and watch the colors fall through.
  • Observe the gentle swirls and patterns, allowing yourself to feel the joy of creation.
  • To add more colors, repeat the last two steps with different colors.
  • Find a cozy spot for your cup and notice how the colors settle and transform.

Notes

Cover with a lid or plastic wrap to slow evaporation. The ingredients are safe for the environment and can be reused creatively.
