  • 1 jar or bowl clear glass jar or bowl
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Recommended for clarity
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • various drops food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 small bowl for mixing

Preparation

  • Take a clear glass jar and fill it with warm water until it is about three-quarters full.
  • In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil with a few drops of food coloring.
  • Carefully pour the colored oil over the warm water in the jar.
  • Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of salt into the jar.
  • Shake or tap the jar gently to create new patterns and colors.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring combinations, add edible glitter for sparkle, or use flavored drinks for a fun twist.
