Preparation

  • In small bowls, combine granulated sugar with a few drops of food coloring.
  • Use a spoon to mix thoroughly until the color is even and let your colors dry for a few minutes.

Set Up

  • Place a tray or baking sheet on a flat surface to catch any overflow.
  • Sprinkle different colored sugars on the tray in various patterns, creating a rainbow effect.

Create the Eruption

  • In a separate bowl, add 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of baking soda for each color.
  • Use a pipette to transfer the vinegar mixture onto the colored sugar and observe as it fizzes and erupts!
