Ingredients
Materials Needed
- 1 cup Granulated sugar For creating colorful eruptions

- small cups Small bowls For mixing food coloring with sugar
- small cups Water For mixing with sugar to create eruption
- 1 set Measuring spoons For measuring sugar and water
- 1 each Spoons or small droppers To drizzle water over sugar
- optional Baking parchment For easy cleanup
Instructions
Preparation
- Lay down baking parchment on baking sheets or trays to make cleanup easier.
- Choose a well-ventilated space to work; this can be done indoors or outdoors.
Color the Sugar
- In small bowls, mix ΒΌ cup of granulated sugar with a few drops of food coloring.
- Stir until the sugar is fully coated in color, making sure there are no clumps.
- You can create multiple colors for a vibrant display!
Arrange the Sugar
- Spoon the colored sugar onto the baking sheets, creating small mountains or piles.
- Allow some space between the piles so they can spread out when they erupt.
Create the Eruption
- In another bowl, mix an equal part of sugar with a few tablespoons of water.
- Using a spoon or a dropper, drizzle the water mixture over the colored sugar piles until they are slightly damp.
- Watch as the sugar begins to erupt, mixing colors and creating a rainbow effect!
