Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking.

Color the Sugar

  • In separate bowls, divide the granulated sugar into portions based on the number of colors you wish to use.
  • Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix with a spoon until all the sugar is evenly coated.

Spread the Sugar

  • Take a spoonful of each colored sugar and layer it on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Create a swirling pattern by mixing colors together, mimicking a rainbow.

Bake the Sugar

  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Watch closely; when the sugar starts to sparkle, it’s time to take it out!

Cool and Store

  • Let the sugar cool completely on the baking sheet.
  • Once cooled, break it into fun shapes and store in an airtight container.

Notes

For added taste, use flavored extracts in your sugar. Experiment with clumping and textures for unique results.
