Fireworks Straw Painting

A delightful and engaging craft activity that allows you to create vibrant artworks mimicking fireworks using simple materials and techniques.

Ingredients
  

Materials Needed

  • 1 piece Watercolor paper or cardstock
  • various colors Paint (liquid watercolors or acrylics)
  • 1 pack Straws (regular or flexible) Can also use a small piece of cardboard rolled into a tube
  • 1 cup Water cups (for rinsing straws)
  • optional Newspaper or a plastic tablecloth for easy cleanup

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Lay down newspaper or a plastic tablecloth to protect your surfaces.
  • Set your materials within reach.

Create Your Paint Mixture

  • Pour your chosen paint into small cups, using different colors for a vibrant effect.
  • Thin out the paint with a little water if it’s too thick for blowing.

Start Painting

  • Dip one end of the straw into a paint color.
  • Hold the paper at an angle and place the other end of the straw on the paper.
  • Blow gently into the straw, watching the paint spread and form shapes.

Make Fireworks

  • Experiment with various colors and blowing techniques: Blow harder for larger splatters, and softer for finer details.
  • Rotate the straw to create different angles and designs.

Let it Dry

  • Once you’re satisfied with your artwork, set it aside to dry completely.

Notes

Customize colors by experimenting with metallic paints for a sparkly effect. Swap materials to use thick paper for a different texture, or incorporate glitter for added flair.
