Ingredients

For the Fizzing Ice Cubes

  • 1 cube tray Ice cube tray (silicone trays are easy to use)
  • 1 cup Baking soda (common household item)
  • 1 cup Vinegar (white vinegar works best)
  • a few Drops of food coloring (choose your favorite colors)
  • 2-3 Small mixing bowls or cups (for preparing the colorful mixtures)
  • 1 Tray or shallow dish (to catch any overflow)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Fill your ice cube tray with water, leaving a little space at the top to account for expansion. Place it in the freezer and wait patiently until the water is fully frozen (a few hours).
  • In small bowls, mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a few drops of food coloring. Add a small amount of water to create a paste-like consistency.
  • Once your ice is ready, gently pop the ice cubes out of the tray and place them on your tray or shallow dish.
  • Carefully spoon your colorful baking soda mixtures over the ice cubes.
  • In a separate bowl, pour a small amount of vinegar. Using a spoon or pipette, drizzle the vinegar over the prepared ice cubes.
  • Observe the beautiful colors mixing and bubbling, enjoying the scents, sounds, and sights.
  • As the fizzing subsides, take a breath and reflect on the colorful creations.

Enjoyment

  • Use your Fizzing Ice Cubes as centerpieces or add them to a warm bath for relaxation.
  • Invite others to join and share the joy of the project.

Notes

You can explore with natural dyes instead of artificial colors, and consider enhancing the mixtures with essential oils for a calming effect.
