Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup of vegetable oil to achieve a crumbly consistency.
  • Divide the mixture into smaller portions based on how many colors you want. Add a few drops of food coloring to each portion and mix thoroughly.
  • Pack each color mixture into a small container (like a muffin tin) and press down firmly to ensure they are filled securely.

Creating the Fizz

  • In a separate bowl, pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar.
  • When ready, drop a lava rock into the vinegar and watch as it fizzes and bubbles!

Notes

Customize colors with natural food coloring or spices. Add scents with a few drops of essential oils. Use different molds for varied rock shapes.
