Ingredients
  

Materials

  • 1 sheet White cardstock or thick paper Suitable for holding the reaction.
  • 1 cup Baking soda Used for the paint base.
  • 1 cup Vinegar Creates the fizzing reaction.
  • various drops Food coloring Use different colors for varied effects.
  • 3-4 small cups Small cups or bowls To mix the baking soda and food coloring.
  • 1 each Paintbrush or dropper For applying the colored baking soda mixture.
  • 1 tray Tray to catch spills Helps keep the area clean.
  • optional Pencil For optionally sketching designs.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start by laying a sheet of white cardstock on a tray to catch any spills.
  • Optionally, draw a moon shape or other designs with a pencil for guidance.

Mixing the Paint

  • In separate small cups, mix a few tablespoons of baking soda with a few drops of food coloring until you achieve your desired shades.

Painting the Moon

  • Using a paintbrush or dropper, apply the colored baking soda mixture to your paper.
  • Feel the texture as you paint, noting how the baking soda is different from regular paint.

Fizzing Magic

  • Prepare small cups of vinegar.
  • Drip or pour the vinegar over your painted surface and watch as it fizzes and bubbles!
  • Enjoy the sensory experience—the smell, the sound, and the visual explosion of color!

Drying and Display

  • Allow the artwork to dry completely.
  • Once dry, admire and display your Fizzing Moon Art!

Notes

Consider exploring different shapes, colors, and even adding sparkle for variation. Supervision is recommended for younger children.
