Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup Baking soda
- 1/2 cup Citric acid Can substitute with lemon juice or vinegar
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch

- 3-5 tablespoons Water Add gradually until mixture is moldable
- Food coloring (optional) Use for creating colorful moon rocks
- Essential oils (optional) Add for fragrance
Tools
- Mixing bowl
- Ice cube tray or silicone mold
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
Instructions
Preparation
- Gather all materials in a clean, flat workspace.
- Lay down parchment paper to protect your surfaces.
Mixing
- In a mixing bowl, combine baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch.
- Stir well until the mixture is uniform in color and texture.
Coloring and Scenting
- Optional: If you want colorful moon rocks, add a few drops of food coloring to your dry mix.
- For a fragrant twist, mix in a few drops of essential oils.
Forming Rocks
- Gradually add 3 to 5 tablespoons of water to the dry mixture.
- Mix thoroughly until it holds together but is not too wet. The mixture should be moldable.
- Pack the mixture tightly into your ice cube tray or silicone molds.
- Allow them to sit for a few hours until they harden completely.
Finishing Up
- Gently pop the moon rocks out of the molds.
- Store them on a baking sheet elsewhere until you’re ready for the fizzing fun!
