Instructions
Preparation
- Choose an outdoor area to work with minimal wind to avoid spills.
- Lay down newspapers or a baking sheet to protect surfaces.
Mixing
- In a bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of cornstarch. Stir well to ensure even mixing.
- Distribute the dry mixture into the muffin tin or ice cube trays.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to each compartment.
Fizzing Reaction
- Slowly pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar into each compartment.
- Watch as it fizzes and bubbles—this is the exciting chemical reaction!
Setting
- Allow the mixture to settle for a few hours or overnight.
- Once dry, gently pop the chalk out of the molds.
Drawing
- Take your fizzing chalk outside and start drawing.
- Spray with water for a fun fizzing effect as you draw!
Notes
Experiment with different food coloring to create unique shades. Use fun-shaped molds for more creative options. Mix in small items like glitter to add extra sensory fun. If kept in a cool, dry place, the chalk will last for several weeks.
