Ingredients

  • 1 cup Baking soda
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup White vinegar
  • various Food coloring Use different colors for vibrant effects.

  • 1 Muffin tin or ice cube trays To mold the chalk.
  • 1 Mixing bowl For mixing ingredients.
  • 1 each Spoons For mixing and portioning.
  • 1 Baking sheet (optional) To protect the workspace.
  • 1 each Water spray bottle For cleanup and fizzing effect.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Choose an outdoor area to work with minimal wind to avoid spills.
  • Lay down newspapers or a baking sheet to protect surfaces.

Mixing

  • In a bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of cornstarch. Stir well to ensure even mixing.
  • Distribute the dry mixture into the muffin tin or ice cube trays.
  • Add a few drops of food coloring to each compartment.

Fizzing Reaction

  • Slowly pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar into each compartment.
  • Watch as it fizzes and bubbles—this is the exciting chemical reaction!

Setting

  • Allow the mixture to settle for a few hours or overnight.
  • Once dry, gently pop the chalk out of the molds.

Drawing

  • Take your fizzing chalk outside and start drawing.
  • Spray with water for a fun fizzing effect as you draw!

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring to create unique shades. Use fun-shaped molds for more creative options. Mix in small items like glitter to add extra sensory fun. If kept in a cool, dry place, the chalk will last for several weeks.
